Veggie Booty Off Limits! Part 2
We reported in our previous blog that the product Veggie Booty, an otherwise healthy snack made from puffed rice and corn with a vegetable coating, has been recalled after reports of salmonella poisoning. Findings indicate the presence of a strain of salmonella known as Salmonellawandsworth.
Now we learn that the product was coated with a seasoning that allegedly originated in China, said Robert Ehrlich, president and chief executive of Robert's American Gourmet Inc., the company that sold this product. Veggie Booty is made by a contractor for Robert's American Gourmet, states company officials. It's unclear from whom the contractor purchased the seasoning.
Food products made in China increasingly have come under fire. You will not believe what one restaurant owner did that got him arrested by the Chinese authorities. Stay tuned.
