Delay, Deny, Defend - Why You Case Has Not Settled
It’s been more than 2 years and despite the fact that the person that hit you admits it, the insurance company will not settle the claim for a fair amount. Former insurance claim representatives say that the large insurers have a strategy designed to keep you from getting fair compensation. Their battle plan is to:
- Delay handling your claim; drag it out as long as possible; then
- Deny you were hurt by raising issues that are not relevant; and finally,
- Defend their decision in drawn-out court battles.
It's called the “three Ds”: delay, deny and defend. Their hope is that you will get discouraged and walk away accepting much less than the case is worth. They also hope that attorneys will refuse to accept these cases because of the time commitment and low return on investment.
Don’t take our word on it. CNN recently has done an exposé on the subject.
What’s the solution? More in the next blog on how to defeat these tactics.
